Clear coat issues!

there are a few about quarter sized spots on my trunk and roof where the clear coat is peeling. it is a 96 328i, is this common for this car, and should i worry about it happening on other panels of the car in the near future?

sounds sun baked. That happens with old cars, even bimmers im affraid. Keep the car waxed, and try to keep it in the shade. Bimmer paint is verry high quality, so dont worry too much. Age will deteriorate even the best.
Dont you just love those instances where someone is pregnant, or lost a limb... Then you have an excuse to go as fast as you darn well please!

Sounds to me like it was a possible repaint on these panels unless you know for sure it hasnt been refinished. Ways to tell would be to look for other flaws in the paint ie dirt nibs, sand scraches, etc. in my experience with bmw, audi, mercedes and other european manufactures, they very rarley have delamination issues on original paint. remember, its not GM. if a repaint is not the case, your car got a bad batch of paint. either way its gonna be spendy to fix the right way. which means stripping the paint off to bare metal and start over with quality products, from etching primer to premimum clear. it wont be cheap. even if you do it your self. materials alone will set you back 600 easily. note im not talking about the martin senor at car quest. i prefer standox. very high quality. good luck
