camera help!

Hey all,

Im looking at getting a nice Digital SLR camera for myself sometime in the next few months, but i want to make sure i spend my money on a solid camera. what i really want is, High Mega pixles for a clean crisp photo, i notice alot photo stabilization so that shouldnt be a problem, expandability would b nice feature (interchangable lenses, external flash jacks, things like that) also prob no more then $800. right now im looking at a finepix s9600 http://www.fujifilm.com/products/dig...600/index.html . but if anyone has any other suggesetions please let me know! thanks.

Go with the Canon Rebel XT probally the best damn semipro DSLR out there. I have the original discontinued Canon Rebel DSLR, its about 2 years old and has never let me down. The XT is just an improvement on the original. It's compatiable with all the canon lens, assesories and just about anything you want to use, it has an 8 megapixel sensor and increased power over the original. Also it's not a 1 grand plus budget breaker.

http://rsf5.deviantart.com/gallery/ --- most of these photos were taken with the original Rebel DSLR the XT is just a suped up version. sort of like 330Ci M Sport package compared to a 330Ci

Higher megapixels does not necessarily mean better pictures, it also depends on the size of the image sensor, among other things. Manufacturers often cram too many pixels onto a sensor, resulting in graininess.

A great site to check out when looking for info/advice/reviews:

Ever look at DPreview.com, they have REALLY indpeth reviews of alot of cameras from all the major manufacturers. They have a sample gallery as well for most cameras. AND there's a listing of pricing from major sources so you could compare the costs. If you need more pricing sources, after finding the camera that you'd like, go to Epinions.com to find the best price and perhaps a review or two.

My vote leans more towards Nikons. Girlfriend has to use them for her research stuff, and I believe that Woobie (is he still posting??) had some insaine pictures with his E46, he had a Nikon D70.
