My final is in 6.5 hours. I feel more confident now, but I am still concerned. I have already skimmed over all the material once; I am about 75% through my second pass, which is mainly working out homework problems and ensuring my understading of important concepts, as well as highlighting the important stuff (open-book, closed notes exam); and I hope to have two or three hours left to go over anything that is still not clear and to kind of gloss over everything I will have studied.
I am cramming three months worth of learning into one day, so wish me luck.
Update on teh me: In one night, I studied all the material that was covered in class during the last three months. I was absent from class about 80% of the time and I only completed two out of eleven assignmenst, so it was not easy.
This morning, I took my final and did very well. There was one problem (ot of 9) that I was not able to figure out. It had to be my luck -- I prepared myself for 50 different types of problems, but not this particular one.
I had aced the midterm already, so it turns out I have very robust exam performances on the books. The problem is that sinece I was not in class and I failed to turn in my homewrok, even getting A's in bothe exams will not be enough to get me a grade of Bin the class. If I don't get a B, my school will make me retake the class.
I tried to get my prfessor to let me turn in my assignments for reduced credit or something like that. He said that would not work, given that he hands out the homwrok solutions and I could just copy those and turn them in. "Touché," I thought.
He suggested that take an incomplete grade this semester and that I show up for the midterm and final next semester. He will then compute my grade from those exam results. Being tired and in a hurry, I agreed. Now I realize how ludacrous that is. I mean, all I did this semester was show up for the exams. How does making me sahow up for the exams -- and the exams only -- next semester compliment what I already did?
My beef with the whole thing is that finals are in May, and I hope to have defended my thesis by mid April, so it would be kind of silly to still have an undergraduate class lingering in limbo, keeping me form being able to apply for graduation. I have since E-Mailed my prof to suggest that he assign me a grade based on my exams from this semester. I am crossing my fingers for an affirmative response.
For some reason, I thought you guys needed to know this.
Update on my finals:
ACED my PHYS 24, got an A in the class!!
Just finished Calc 3, knew everything, so barring any dumb mistakes, I aced that one too.
I'm feeling pretty spiffy guys...
