F*ck this car and it breaking the f*ck down!!!

Alright, so I bled the brakes and put in a new fuel filter on Sunday. Now my car is going through the damn "you fix something, I break something" routine.

God damn it!!!!!

So far, I've found a leak in the damn transmission. Ironically, I ordered new fluid, gaskets and filters for the tranny fluid replacement I was going to do so that a seal would not go bad. I'm assuming it's between the torque converter and the rest of the transmission. A front seal, if you will. By the way, that's $35 for parts and $953.00 for labor. God damn it!!! So, it looks like a transmission tear down DIY is coming to town.

And on top of that, I ordered that stupid carbon canister, special order by the way. Pelican Parts said that it was $45.50 on Friday and when I ordered it on Monday it was $83.50 and they didn't tell me the price had changed!!!! And on top of that, the fucking canister isn't even bad, fuel is literally leaking out of my engine via a hose that I have never seen before until now. Son of a bitch!!!

I'm afraid to fix anything else!

I feel ya. Going thru the same thing myself, and my issues started back in Feb. Still not done. Mine doesn't even wait till I fix something- my emissions problem isn't even resolved yet, but I have to add an e-brake overhaul to the list.

"mullet-babe" - check with any good trans shop in your area - front seal replacement shouldn't be that expensive. In 99% of cases trans doesn't need to be completely removed. They drop drive shaft and slide trans back far enough to access seal and can usually pop seal out and install within an hour.

^^^ Already checked that. Labor averages 8.50 hours. Boo.

Anyway, I talked to BavAuto and Matthew in Customer Service cheered me up. And the gas smell thing? Just two hoses going to the fuel filter from the engine. No biggie, just have to fight with Pelican to return the carbon canister.

Good news!

Today I got a lot done. I went to AutoZone to get new hoses and hose clamps for the leaky fuel deal. Terry, the guy who always gives me the wrong shit, gave me the wrong shit. I take it back up there and they do an even trade for the right hoses (4x more a foot. i.e. $8 a foot, I need four). So I got $24 worth of hoses for $4.

While I had the car properly jacked up, I took a closer look at the tranny. Turns out that the dips I was seeing coming from under the car and the wet looking residue near the tranny was from the gas issue, not the tranny! The tranny just had some grease covered in dirt on it, giving it a brown/redish appearance. I wiped the grease off and it hasn't been leaking at all. I even stuck my finger in the bolt holes and poked around, no tranny fluid!!!!! Things are looking up!

Note to self: diagnose the problem when the car is fully jacked up, not when you have 0.5" for your nose to turn under the car.

Also, expect a automatic tranny fluid change DIY in the future.
