New computer!!!

Hola,
I just got a brand new Dell XPS 400 with:
3.0 Ghz 930 Intel Viiv Processor
320 GB hard drive
2 GB memory
windows XP media center
geForce video card
dual layer dvd-rw and dvd-rom
all the other shenanigans except a tv tuner

now, my question is....
it has an s-video output and a dvi output. i want to hook it up to my Sharp XR-1S projector via my Pioneer VSX-something reciever. is this just a plug and play deal? or do i need more drivers? i can't connect my projector because i left the power cord in my dorm room (or as i like to call it "the death star"), so i can't test it, nor do i have another thing i can test it on

what is everyone's thoughts?

Should be plug & play (according to a couple of my video guys) :woot via the "S" video output

mullethunter3 07-24-2006 10:32 PM

thanks clapton, i went through so much shit with my last pos computer, that is music to my ears :tup

defkon99 07-24-2006 10:43 PM

yes no plug and play maybe just a couple of buttons need to be pushed to switch to the s video port.

mullethunter3 07-25-2006 12:14 AM

what are those buttons, then?

i'm not tech illiterate (or however you spell it), but this computer is a far cry from my last laptop (WalMart special, thx to my mom)

So, how do you like the XPS 400 desktop?

Ah, you should have got a Mac then.

"It just works"

Sorry, I've always had a preference for Apple. After the ZX Spectrum, an Apple IIC was my first computer, which then evolved into a Macintosh.

Great computers.

Popularity doesn't make something good.

Um, well it works for me... most of the times. The motherboard on this piece is really, really bad. It'll crash if you plug in any external hard drive to a USB, rendering all USB's inactive for however long it feels like doing it. No keyboard, no mouse... no computer. It's out of warranty. If you ever buy a Dell, get the longest warranty you can get your hands on. It'll be worth it.

As for Mac... I don't have anything against them, but I've grown up with PCs. I refuse to switch. I'm stubborn.

2003 Mac, OS X, no crashes. It's not the Dell, it's the Windows OS.

I don't like Macs
also Germans (the only country in the world left doing this) prefer gaming on PCs over consoles, and you can't really game on Macs.

I might consider a Macbook one day, but not a desktop.
Actually, I like Sony Vaios a lot

Thank you. I'm stubborn too. I like PCs better. I'll stick with a laptop. Thanks for the review and inputs about your tower.
