Crunch Time on Illegal Immigration.

what do you guys think of bill O'reilly's idea? i think its nearly perfect. alot cheaper then building that stupid billion dollar wall.

" But there is a solution that carries both a stick and a carrot. One, immediately move the National Guard to the border to back up the border patrol. If this is done, there's no need for a $1 billion wall. Illegal crossings would decline drastically.

Two, detain anyone caught trying to cross the border illegally and deport them ASAP. No more catch and release.

Three, inform businesses that hiring illegal workers will lead to expensive fines first time, prison time for employers second time.

Four, allow those illegals already in the USA to register as foreign residents without fear of reprisal. An illegal would have 60 days to do that. Failure to register would be a felony with mandatory prison time.

Five, once the foreign resident is registered, he or she would be issued temporary working papers and would have to pay a $3,000 fine for breaking the immigration law. The money would be deducted from paychecks over a three-year period.

Six, after three years, that foreign resident could apply for citizenship, but such a privilege would not be guaranteed. The applicants would take their place in line behind those who have obeyed the immigration rules.

Seven, a legal guest worker program would be set up to meet the needs of businesses. Foreign countries could send a list of applicants and a pool would be formed.

Any finally, any immigrant evading taxes in the USA would be immediately deported. So there you have it. Comprehensive plan to stop the madness, but Congress not going to do it.

On Monday, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved an amendment that would allow Americans to provide care for illegal aliens while adding more border patrol agents. Same old, same old. Not going to solve the problem.

And that's "The Memo." "

Not a bad idea (or ideas) Craig. And birth control would be nice! :shades

better yet, employers who hire go to jail, and you have to have a valid ssn to go to school, or get a license, or get welfare, or county assisted medical care (except first aid). no socialist safety net.

smells alot like the cuban refugee influx of the '70s. Only the rif-raf, criminals & "unwanted" came here w/Castros' blessings. (This is more complicated than that) - if they want to come here and work fine - stand inline like the rest of LEGAL immigrants. Sorry no free passes, no "pass go, collect $200" - more like go directly to jail if our laws are touch much of a burden.

brien4787 03-30-2006 01:51 PM

I like it. Seems good...

witeshark 03-30-2006 01:53 PM

Yeah there has to be some kind of plan :type

jms 03-30-2006 03:34 PM

besides open season on illegals. I don't care if they want to come to our country to work. you want to come you need a job, you lose that job you got to get another or get out. No welfare, no services, services are for citizens.

That's why I support the fairtax. Anyone who isn't registered doesn't get a tax rebate and you pay takes at the time of sale. All our bimmers (except brand spankin' new ones) are tax free :) anyway, I need to snip this before it becomes a rant. :ranting

haha, he has a nice plan in my opinion.

As rash as Bill can be, the dude has some straight forward and clear ideas of how things have to go down, it may not sound all nice at first, but that's because he sees what has to be done to get problems solved.

As far as his idea with immigrants, it sounds like a good idea, except for the 3000 fine. What about mothers that cant work? what about kids? these are the types of questions you have to address.

I think this bill that's getting passed sounds like it has far too many complications in it. there is a walk out going on at my school tomorrow I think, all those opposed to the bill are leaving at a certain time, immigrants and citizens.

I think teh fine would be appropriate. Special consideration could be given to mothers, etc. Maybe it could be on a per family basis. In fact, I had suggested that a special tax be deducted from their paychecks to be contributed to a special fund to strengthen control at the border.

bill orielly is an idiot and his advice should be taken with a grain of salt... HOWEVER, he's speaking some good ideas!

the idea of an amnesty program is horrible... look at the EU and other european countries such as france. they have a horrible illegal immigration problem. they tried amnesty and we've seen how well that one worked out.

jms 04-02-2006 11:16 PM

amnesty is a nice way of saying, you win. We can't beat you, so join us.

All you need is common sense, unfortunately it's been gone from government for so long now that we don't expect it from our government. :(

I like this guys take on things:

The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Aye from GA. This guy should run for President one day...

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to
help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more
riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the
blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV,or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.
If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness which, by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

(lastly....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

jms 04-03-2006 01:01 AM

We have a winner. That is the clearest, and most concise thing I've read from a politician in a long time. That should be taught in school.
