NEW! User Reputation

Let's try this out and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, we can easily get rid of it.

Basically, now in each user's profile there is a reputation level. Whenever you see someone post a great, benificial post.. click the Rep icon on the bottom left part of their post, and rate them up. If they submit a negative or malicious post, rate their reputation down. In the future there will be benifits to having a higher reputation.

This will hopefully encourage positive posts that add content to the forums.

Let me hear your feedback on this. :)

Definitly a great idea, will be able to show if someone is good or isnt good.. =-O

Neat - the trick is to be fair and honest ;)

I'm also thinking about setting up a promotion system where after your user reputation hits X and your post count hits Y, you'll be able to use a custom title and have access to a special, hidden forum. Whatcha think? :)

I say sure, why not. Make things more interesting :)

rep and report look similiar, someone may accidently hit the wrong button, considering they are opposites maybe they should be a little farther away from eachother

It's a very different result though, you'll know if you hit the wrong one. The report opens in the same window and asks for why in a big box, and the Rep button is a small popup where you choose if you agree or not, and a one line, quick comment.

Yup, abuse has to be deliberate ;)

So where is the indicator that lists your reputation? Is that little green + sign that I see on whitesharks profile ^^^

EnvyM3 06-01-2005 11:00 AM

Huh, somehow I already have 10 reputation points. How long has this been active??

komodo 06-01-2005 11:01 AM

Everyone starts with 10 points. :p

smart idea... (as long as someone doesn't do like the rate my car and give everyone Zeros...)

komodo 06-01-2005 03:41 PM
