What Inspired You to own a Bimmer??? Post your answer!!!

I've always loved the BMW: But then, there are the obvious reasons: Excellent German engineering, Style, Performance, Class, all = Ultimate Driving Machine!

For me, it was this, not so great movieAttachment 908, with lots of action & THE CAR!!!
That made me say, I got to get a Bimmer & a Black one, at that! Sounds silly, but that's what got the ball rolling!

http://www.ifilm.com/video/2455079 click on web address, & then click on "OK"

p.s.I know its a 7 series in the movie & I ended up with a 3 series, but you get the point!!!!

I'd say restoring my dad's e30 which made me love it. Such an easy car to work on and it rewards you with such great performance. Looks damn sexy too. I like the performance of the modern BMW's and all that but for some reason I don't like the looks of many new cars.

The sporty/aggressive look...and obviously the PERFORMANCE!!! :drive2

This is odd because I was writing a paper for my automotive technology class and I was writing about the history of the M3, then I wrote a little section on how I first became interested in BMW's. It goes a little something like this....

I wasn’t born into liking BMW’s, nor was it my first car. I owned a Nissan Maxima as my first car, it couldn’t have been better. I loved it so much. I had a short ram intake on it, 17 inch racing rims, lowered 2 inches, I had a lot of money into it but the thing I didn’t like about it, it was automatic. I took everything off of the Maxima and sold it to my sister. That is when I was first interested in BMW’s. I was looking around the internet and through the newspaper for BMW’s. I came across a 1994 BMW 325is in the newspaper, went and checked it out that day and drove home with it. I spent a lot of time on BMW forums and became a total BMW nut.

then it goes on about the m3 and how I because interested in that... :)

in highschool one of my buddy's got a 96 M3 and it was one of the baddest cars around. after a few rides in it i said i gotta get a bimmer and ive loved everything about owning one. performance, styling, and the fact that most people think my 10 year old car is only about 2 years old just amazes me. granted these arent car people but hey it still says something, the styling of the 90's bmws is timeless

i started out with vw fixing them up with my dad and selling them for a small or no gain .then we came across a 79 528i and rebuilt the motor it was a nice car but it was a auto .so it dint intrest me much .then we came across the car that started it all for me a 1986 325es coupe standard trans we got it for 600 dollars out of some guys yard .we ended up putting 6 new injectors driveline and in tank fuel pump and new brakes and rotors .this car i would say is the best car ever made the second i started driving it i knew no other car could match up .sence then we have bought a 92 325i sedan a 86 528i and another e30 85 325e .im hoping to get the 85 to drive and preforme like the 86 .the e36 is nice but like the guy said earlier there is somthing about the e30 that makes it second to none .:bowdown to the e30

The same thing happens to me & you can't beat that feeling! That reminds me of a thread started on the Bimmerforum. It read "Why Buy a 328, when you could buy a M Infinity. What's the Infinity going to look like after 10 years!!!!

This all sounds familiar, except I went to ebay motors scrolled down to the first Black 3 Series & read the write-up, looked at the 25 or so pics & hit the BUY IT NOW button!!!
Then I spent a lot of time on BMW forums and became a total BMW nut.

I had bought a new 325 hp V6 Hyundai Sonata and within 3 months time I had almost 13,000 miles on it. I was shocked and knew it would be an "old" car within the first year at that rate, so I started thinking about selling it and getting something that I could put alot of miles on and work on myself. I talked to my cousin about it and he, being the proud first owner of a 96 328i sedan in mint condition, suggested a BMW. I knew that an e36 was more electronics than I wanted to mess with, so an e30 fit the bill nicely. I lucked out on Craigslist. Found a 93 325iC that only had 87k on it (in 2006) and that had been well taken care of with all records. And the cabrio was perfect for exploring the Texas Hill Country. The forums and local BMWCCA chapter have been great resources and have me hooked. This e30 should last a long time (I am knocking on wood) and it won't be my last BMW!

Love At First Sight

I was always a car nut but i really didn't understand the fact that cars drove in distinct ways until i was 15 when i got my learners permit. I learned to drive on my mom's ML320 (Not the best drive), so I turned 16 last year february and my dad had connections being an auto dealer to get me a BMW at a good deal.

My favorite BMW ever has been the E46 so I asked for one of those, luckily I got the car of my dreams A 2000 Light Ghelb Metallic (Gold) E46 323i. So to answer the question what made me a BMW addict was the elegance of the design, where they do not have to use cheap gimmicks like accenting everything with chrome to appeal to people, or how the Inline 6 sounds amazing at high RPMs, and Last the feeling you get sitting behind the wheel and having the roundel staring right back at you. 7 years and people still think my car is only a couple years old. pure timeless design.

Just to give a little of information on the type of person I am, I am into design and plan on going into Transportation Design at Art Center, though I will never go for Form over Function.

Lovin' the Bimmer

Ever since I was about 13, I have always wanted to own a BMW. I love the styling, performance and the never-ending looks while driving through town. I just bought my first Bimmer about 2 years ago. I bought a '93 318is, I know that it's not the fastest Bimmer out there, but it's still a Bimmer. I have plans on buying a couple more over time, one older, and one newer. I love the E36 chassis style, and the availability for body styling is vast. I would like to get an E30 and an E46. BMWs are the “Ultimate Driving Machine”!!!!http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...l/S5030144.jpg

the E46

nighthawk 11-27-2007 12:25 AM

Sorry, I meant the newer style E46...

Nothing inspired me to buy my car.

It's sad to say, but it's true. However, it was in my price, had A/C, power windows and was in town. I fell in love with BMW after I bought the car, which most of you know.

My story's similar to the mulleteer's. I actually was trying my best to find a 300zx under $6K, but my parents offered to buy me a cheap piece of junk to get around, so I started looking at nicest thing I could get for under $3K. Found a nice little Saab, but after some research found out that those auto trannies are total shit from that era. Finally stumbled on the BMW that I currently own for $5000. Loved it ever since. My dad was pissed for a while, cause he used to own a 2002 back in the day and has wanted a bimmer ever since (his engine started on fire shortly after he got it!).
