Black trim Revamp...
so i know stores sell all sorts of crap to refinish black trim so it has a rich black color.

I got sick of paying so much money for a crappy product. So i decided to try something new. I used conventional motor oil to revamp my black trim.

Its been a week...and the trim has not lost any richness. Its working better then anything i have used before, and its cheap.

so it this bad for the trim? i mean the plastic is just oil..so it cant to much harm can it?

nick_318is 09-03-2007 09:59 PM

you do it on the e30?

Numark318i 09-03-2007 10:31 PM

i did it on both cars.

the 330 only needed it on the rear view mirror trim though.well and some of the window trim.

but yea both cars have a nice rich black finish

i dunno if its bad for the plastic or anything, but i would venture to guess that the oil is just sitting on top of it for the time being.

does it feel slick or greasy at all?

Numark318i 09-03-2007 11:06 PM

nope. the plastic soaked it all up.

RSF5 09-03-2007 11:10 PM

Sounds like it makes sense. Nice tip man thanks for sharing it. I'm going to go renew my front grill once I get a chance.
