WRX does not = trouble?

I came across a couple of kids in a red, riced-out WRX. We rode side-by-side for a min., then I heard the fart can roar so I nailed it too. He got the jump on me & pulled out a bit.....about front bumper to rear.
We had to hit the skidz because of a red light. Side-by-side, the light turns green. I pulled on him (thank god for 5 speed & new centerforce clutch) and just walked away. I had the roof open & windows down so all I could hear is the fart machine fading into the distance.
I thought WRX's were fast?!? So, now I'm wondering if it was a cloned legacy or the guy just can't drive the piece of rice crap. I expected to get my ass handed to me. :drive2

328iS, centerforce clutch (bram new), stainless headers with factory exhaust (headers on factory exhaust?........I don't know why........ I bought it like that), K&N, that's it

it might either be that he cant drive or its quick in the begining but after a little bit it loses its edge it needs more power and a bigger engine because a 2 liter turbo is quick not fast

i drove a wrx before, and they are fast and lighter than your E36.

I love bimmers dearly, but i think you might have been lucky on that one.

Maybe the other dirver realized it wasn't wise to street-race :dunno

EItehr that or it really wasn't a WRX.

BaLAnCe17 05-02-2007 10:40 PM

i remember racing a chipped intake+exhaust wrx in my old 328is...freeway though from 45 and up, he pulled on me pretty well. the guy you raced must of been a n00b or it was a 2.5rs rebadged hahahaha

RSF5 05-02-2007 10:42 PM

Yeah, either he sucked or wasn't racing, or it wasn't a WRX

Montizzle 325i 05-02-2007 10:50 PM

Balance.....your sig is baller as hell

BaLAnCe17 05-02-2007 11:32 PM

thanks man...for my next m3 i was thinkin about getting dakar. you should shoot me some pics of your new suspension and HID's. how do you like the new rear end too? dhahn@gonzaga.edu

a guy over at tehdriven, lowviscosity made it for me. hes done a few others that are sicker than mine

chris325i 05-03-2007 12:17 AM

thats pretty wierd. i rode in an sti with a very good driver behind the wheel once, and to this day i still think that was the fastest car ive ever rode in. who knows what happened. oh well you ended up in front so you win by default. haha

drz 05-03-2007 01:23 AM

Not all WRX's are STi's.

elsabor67 05-03-2007 01:47 AM

He probably couldn't drive or shift right. Maybe he needs some classes on how to race.

Or maybe................. He had too much Uncle Ben's in his tank:thud :thud :thud

NavyL7 05-03-2007 07:06 AM

I'm thinking it was a clone, not realy a WRX. I've never driven one, but I would epect it to be faster.

celsdogg 05-03-2007 10:30 AM

^^^ no worries tho, coz bimmers still rule. :D

Numark318i 05-03-2007 01:07 PM

yea wait.

are we talking WRX STI...cause if so..he wasnt racing.

if it was a WRX..224hp. STi is 293 or something like that.

whats a 328 put out?

ah WRX beats me by 2 hp. wtf

drz 05-03-2007 03:55 PM

328 is 190 bhp
