635 csi - electrical fuel trouble

New member here! I'm having what I believe to be electrical problems delivering fuel to the engine. It's my 'baby' and has always started right-up! I've replaced the two relays, and had a mechanic come and check it out - he says it's my external fuel pump that's bad, but just wanted some other feedback. Could there be any other reasons? If the pump is blown, would that make no current to go through the 7.5 amp (fuse box) fuse?

Check to see if the pump is running by listening for a humming sound near the quarter panel on the passenger side of the car when the engine is running. The external pumps make a very distinct sound when they are working.

you're going to trace back from the fuse box to the battery trying to find where you loose power in that circuit. i had a similar problem with my 85 635, and it ended up being a pair of smoked relays. but still, a multi meter set on 20V is going to be your best friend on this one.
i usually say to start with the offending/problem part and work back toward the battery to diagnose electrical problems, but you may have something as simple as the power input wire going up to the fuse has been pushed down far enough to not make contact with the fuse!
hope this helps.
