Your Honest Opinion.

ok so my parents were driving in Santa Rosa and a couple weeks ago they noticed anice red ferrari at a dealship. My mom was looking at it everyday she drove by. So i told them to go in and take a look.
Now they want a nice car, since the porsche was totalled and my mom recently began her midlife crisis, which is fueled by my dads almost over midlife crisis. So...its a 1989 Ferrari Mondial T.
I believe its around 55 thousand. They want my honest opinion...which Im not really sure what i think yet, i gotta see it in person. But what do u guys think? Classy ferrari or just kinda blah(cause idk...looks a little cheap to me, not my stlye i guess.)
http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z8604/default.aspx

car has 7k miles. very clean etc...what you would expect from a ~50k car.

looks like this from what they tell me.

They're not the "flash-iest" but they are pretty nice. The only real drawback (as w/all ferraris) is maintenance. They are expensive to maintain. (Labor & parts) *couple of clients have/had them & common complaints - downtime/in shop time for maintenance, tune ups & tweaking, clutch replacement costs - i guy told me his clutch needed replacement every 30k (2 possibilities - He's an IDIOT & can't drive or his "wrench" was into his wallet) not comfortable on long cruises.

Well i wouldn't say it's not my style or not because i can't afford a Ferrari. So i see them as a very unique and exotic cars.

I don't know much about Ferrari because nobody owns Ferraris(except for the Royaltys ), i don't much about about the reliability issue of a Ferrari. It's abious there are very expensive to maintain.

Even one can buy a Ferrari, the problem is spare parts. No Ferrari specialist in Brunei.

c1apton's right about comfort. Ferrari's are built for performance. They're not very comfortable and don't have much in the way of amenities. Your mom should consider that.

No disrespect, but that was a Ferrari built with the US market in mind and is neither a classic, nor a great performer.

Buy an E34 540i 6 speed and get a proper touring car that will cost a lot less to repair and be a good round-town car.

Unless you have a post 93-94 car, they were pretty flimsy and unreliable. Our Testarossa, was a great car, but not up to repeated track days, we needed to engineer straight cut gears to cope with the motor. The 348 was a much better car, an would be the earliest Ferrari I would buy as a daily driver.

hehe, i knew the 540i would creep up in the thread.

my opinion would be no. too much work and hassle when you could find a nicer car for less money.

ok thnx for the opinions. Ill throw those thigns my moms way.

You gotta realize after owning 4 porshces she either wants another Porshce or ferrari. BMW is nice..but she wants flashy. So i guess Porsche is the way to go.

Good to know they arent very comfortable. As for maintenance, we realize it would be costly.

Ok cool.
I think ill rule out this option for them.(They look to me cause im the "car" man in the house.)

Flashy. Hmmmmm.

Yeah, I'm not loving that Ferrari.

She should consider

1. Aston Martin DB7
2. Ferrari 355 (Spyder option)
3. Lotus Esprits (Twin Turbo V8 )
4. 2001 Porsche 996

Considered a lotus, but idk about that.

The porsche is for my dad...I think my mom wants something different.

I've been in an older Ferrari (ChrisWorrell on UB was driving it).

Honestly, they're VERY uncomfortable.

I'd actually recommend the Lotus. They're only around $40k I believe, but they have the "flashy" appeal, especially if you get an exotic color.
