well... we went with the 4-runner
Some of you might remember me posting a thread about whether my wife should get a 4runner or an e39 5 series. as expected most of you told me to go with the bimmer... well duh, right?
Well we ended up going with the 4 runner - we got a great deal on it, its an 02, I thought it was an 03, with 88,000kms, for $15,000cdn. We will put 100,000k's on it and it will still be worth that much if not more. Thats the main reason we went with it, not to mention its practicallity as a family vehicle. Not that say, a 540i wouldnt also be a great family vehicle. Its just that the 4 runner fits my families needs a little better. My wife loves it, since, she is rather small, 5'0" and like 100lbs, so she is sitting high enough she can still see around most vehicles. Plus its a pretty good looking wagon, as far as a toyota goes anyway.
Well my opinion on the truck is not nearly as enthusiastic as my lady's. Its basically a tin can for shit sake. It has absolutely no balls, and you cant even turn off the traction control to drift around on the ice, unless you lock the differential, but that just ruins the trucks already pathetic handling. Ill admit its going to be fun taking the thing in the mud once the ground thaws in the spring. But at highway speeds ( my highway speeds ) the damn thing wont stay in a straight line if its at all windy or the road is at all uneven. And in Edmonton, at least one of those two scenarios is a real probability. Anyway to sum up my thoughts on the 4 runner, My 535i was down for a couple of days last week, and we still have the Ford windstar my wife drove for the last 7 years, and frankly, I would rather drive that old piece of crap before I drove the 4 runner.
But the main thing is, my wife is happy.
Thanks again for all your opinions, even though I knew what most of you would say.
Well good for you for getting ur wife soemthing. And if u need help trashing either the windstar or the 4-runner down the road id be more than willing to help. The windstar is fun in the winter for sliding around on the ice and stuff.
