Fiat Puts Windows Mobile in New Cars

Italian automaker Fiat has joined forces with Microsoft to unveil a voice-activated in-car communications system called Blue&Me at the Geneva Motorshow this month. Blue&Me is based on Windows Mobile for Automotive and offers a wide range of functionality, along with connectivity to wireless devices.
For example, drivers can activate their mobile phones and make calls using the car's built-in Bluetooth support. A USB port in the glove box allows drivers to connect their own MP3 files for listening on the road. The Windows platform promises support for any number of devices, rather thank locking users into specific hardware. Fiat's Alfa Romeo will be the first line to offer the Blue&Me system.
The biggest hotel here in Turin is the old Fiat Factory - it still has the test track on the roof of the building - it's now a jogging track, banked corners & all.
IIRC the first couple of bad years of the 745 were Windows based and lived at the dealer for patches and upgradesas well as constant reboots (Blue screen of Death?)
I believe that the current models since 2004 are Java based. Could be wrong though.
I am happy that Fiat finally figured out how to keep their cars from rusting out and running out motors.
With Windows you could buy one and the dealer just moves it around back to the Service department for you. Never gets wet enough to rust or runs up the Mileage that way!
As I was told when living in Italy in the '60s--"There is a reason for a Fiat repair shop on every corner"

That may be because they don't understand the To NY joke either.
If there was another country that I would consider retiring to it would be Italy. Probably the Friuli area north of Venice and nestled into the foothills of the Alps.

Ok u totally have to get me a picture of that. that sounds so kool, test track on the roof.....
Weather has been too shitty and we're busting ass to be ready by Friday - so I had to get Pre-posted pics. (I'll try to get actuals) But here's what this monster looks/looked like. I guess the inside is really wild. And YES that is on the roof - 6 stories up. It's been converted into a really "posh" hotel.
