Who likes a Scion?

There's this nice dude at my job. Really proud of his Scion Tc(?), the little coupe thingy. He likes praising his little car and told me the other day that he had just installed a new bolt-on exhuast. He's describing how it gives him more of a kick and what not. Also described how he kept up (nearly beating) a 1.8t GTI, lost only in the upper range. Whatever...

So he wants to show me this new muffler installed. Ok, after work I check it out. I made a comment about how it kinda looks like a ricer muffler, you know, the BIG ASSSSS exhaust pipes that are somewheres in the 5+in dia. range. Don't get me wrong, the car looks decent, but the muffler is so sterotypical RICE . He didn't appreciate it and moved on to ignoring me. So yea...

Who likes a scion. Thier sporty, cheap... and umm.... cheap...what else?

If he can't take constructive critism, sounds like a personal problem. He'ld never survive a forum like UB. I accept good, bad or indifferent from anyone else here who has the "nads" to post his pic here also. Those who crawl out from under their rocks to shoot off their mouths are usually too embarrased to show their rides and they usually end up on the ignore list. I give more credit to the guys who don't even own a BMW and at least ask for info or have positive input. Your Scion guy is proud of his ride - cool, but be prepared for a little "grey" when asking for opinions.

Yea I get that C1apton. Though I haven't gotten any BAD critisim about my E46 yet, besides someone here telling me that it looks dirty, haha. But for me, when I see an enthusist, and they turn thier ride towards RICE, it makes me cringe and I feel that I have to point it out.

He said that he had paid around $230-250 for it shipped from HKE(?). Now, I'm no expert, but why do all asian market vehicles get the same big ass mufflers? No pun, but are they trying to compensate for something? I say this because at my school I see alot of riced out vehicles, all with those big ass mufflers.

For the money, you're getting a decent car for the broke-ass high school or college kid. Something that companies like BMW can't compete with and probably don't want to. They're brand new cars with warranties. They're in NO WAY AT ALL FAST/QUICK. They are the average Japanese import that look a little better then the normal Honduh. Fully loaded you'll only pay 17k for one of these cars. For a base model BMW you'll pay no less then 30k+.

I personally hate the cars. The XB and XA or whatever are uglier then Rosie O'Donnell in a bikini. The TC, while it looks decent, is just a car which ripped off every design from another company. I have to hang it to Toyota though on the TC. They produced a car which every ricer in America strives to own. Congratulation's.

I agree 100% - American cars suck. They're overpriced and quality doesn't exist. Even the "high end" are crap. Chrysler is the closest to anything quality with the influence of Daimler/Benz. And they wonder why their sales are down?? I know it sounds biased coming from a BMW forum but look at the expanse of years & models here, many are older and are still in great shape. Sure we gripe about problems but ALL mfgrs have problems - most American cars won't see the longevity (unless they recycle it...lol)

^I agreee one summer I was working out of a Ford office building driving my bimmer everyday, I came to the realization that there are no 91 fords being driven around and if there are they would look like a peice of shit compared to my car, and I know that they Definitly still would not at all fun to drive.

As far as the scion, i agree its a cheap car, I dont think the tc looks too bad but please keep the toaster on wheels away. I probably wouldn't want one, but Toyota definitly found a part of the market where not much is offered and will do well becasue of it.

possibly HKS? If it was HKS then it is a good exhaust.

HKS is a pretty reputable company. It's not your typical ricer exhaust if it is HKS.
