Porsche said Volkswagen had become "a significant supplier for about 30 percent of our sales volume," as well as "an important partner in development."

The two companies worked together to develop Porsche's Cayenne sport utility vehicle and Volkswagen's Touareg. They recently announced that they, along with Audi AG, were forming an alliance to develop hybrid engines.

Wow. I sorta thought VW and Porsche were already joined along with Audi as parts of the VAG group

VW and Porsche were never joined or partners.

They just used their Touareg platform and maybe something here and there.

haha thats interesting, i think back in the 70's + 80's porsche's 4 cylnder engines were made by VW

...And in other news, Porsche's stock drops big time because their car owners do not want to be associated with crappy VWs.

I am not a fan of MB at all. they do produce some smokin' cars, but their styling for the most parts blows (could you imaging MBs top designer with Bangle?) and the ride quality just sucks imo. I've driven and rode in quite a few and NONE have ever impressed me. I would rather have an audi over a MB any day.

whatever the case is, porsche is doing what it has to to remain independent and sticking to its core values. if that means being associated with VW, sobeit, they make quality machines.

merc makes good power, but i think BMW is better, really the only merc cars that stand out are the AMG's and Kompressors, and i believe thos have forced induction

all AMG cars as far as I know have some sort of F/I.
