November will see the introduction of a new engine concept for the Golf. Besides a turbo the 1.4l gas engine also gets supercharger slapped on. Boosted like this the engine power is upped to 170PS (top speed 225 kph in the Golf). With twin charging, VW wants to reduce the setbacks of gas engines versus diesels. The supercharger turbo should dramatically improve response in the lower rev band. Besides it should consume one liter less gas per 100km compared to a similar regular engine. It will also see duty in the golf Plus and Touran come 2006.
Whoa. I don't like the design much though. I've never been a very big fan of hatchbacks. And the frontal trim reminds me of an m5 bumper trim.

i think in today's world, with gas the way it is, especially in europe where most of these cars will be sold, its a great thing to make available to the masses.
On another side of things, it'll be interesting what they do with a GTI version of a twincharged golf.... possibly very YUMMIE
