2008 Hyundai Equus

It's rumored that Hyundai is going to be introducing a mid-size luxury sedan in coming years in the US. An existing model already exists in Korea. Is it just me, or are all the cheap car companies all of a sudden starting to make "luxury" cars?

Believe it or not, Hyundai has been in the car business since I think the early 60's, well before Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Just not in the US. Their forté is not cars tho . . they're one of the largest steel manufacturers in the world, and have more financial resources than just about any car company out there. So if they wanted to, they could really make a big statement as far as a kick butt car.

^^ maybe so, but somehow they dont and their cars suck, seriously, i knew someone who sold his 1998 hynadi sonata for 600 bucks, with like 50K on it, no, nothign was wrong with it, its just that that 10yr warranty they brag about, its non transferable, so it only goes to the first owner, yes very retarded

True, and I'm not defending them, merely stating fact. Like I said, they could care less about their vehicle lineup. But it's a good bet that there's Hyundai steel in your car, no matter what make it is.

Ah, the only Hyundai's I've had direct contact with are their cars. I've never riden in (or even seen) a Hyundai oil tanker, haha.

It's like when BMW used to make airplanes...

Hyundai passenger vehicles are getting better. Their current 3.5l V6 seems to be pretty good. I have yet to meet someone who owns a Santa Fe that doesn't absolutely love it. They handle pretty well for an SUV. My friend, who grew up with nothing but BMWs, Land Rovers, and a Triumph, always had a blast driving his girlfriends Hyundai. They have made some crappy cars, but I think those from like 2001-02 to present are pretty decent. BTW, I think the Equus is just the new XG.

My dad rides in Hyundai vehicles in Aisa pretty frequently and he says they are surprisingly nice. Which has changed my mind about them some.

lets keep in mind here that we're picky people driving german cars, for the millions of people that buy cars in korea and other southeast asian countries... hyundais are good cars. and just like a honda, they do waht they're built t do, and they do it well-- good gas economy, low price, reliable. So who's to say they can't go the otehr way and do luxury well too? hyundais in America aren't a true representation fo hyundai. hyundai motors builds cars for use in cities like seoul and tokyo and such where there's minimal highway driving, thus not pushing the car or the engines to the limits experienced in higwa driving (which they're not designed to do.)

just playing devils advocate here.. everyone can use a different POV and an unbiased approach every once in a while

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.
