Currently, the A4 is using the old (and still incredbile) 50/50 quattro system, with the 200hp 2.0T and the 255hp 3.2 engines, both using the amazing FSI, you can read about it here, in decient detail. though limited edition, the DTM edition has been released, I don't know too much about this car other than mentioned here. With styling similar to the upcoming RS4, and a tuned FSI, it's pretty damn sweet.
the current ass kicker on North American soil is of course the S4, using the same 340hp 3.4L V8. As much as it kicks ass... I'll admit I really wish Audi would bring back the bi-turbo V6. troublesome it was... the potential for this car (read... RS4) was incredbile.
But with the new RS4 on the way (2006 in North America)... BMW is REALLY gonna have to dig deep... very deep to counter it... but maybe BMW will just be too busy trying to compete with the new S4... especially with the new quattro system read here. Lol, should be fun boys... should be fun.

Now... granted... if we were to make our german sedans just a little bigger... i'd definatly take the 5series over hte A6... I dunno, to me that's where Audi slips into 'old man' where BMW shines in sporty. Though the A6 cleaned up a lot in the new gen... the 5series looks incredbile IMO (the only car that made it through BMWs new design IMO)
and the A8 vs 7series? though i hvae no interest in these cars... A8 for sure... no question. i just hate the 7series...

Now... though I'm a real A4 (S4 and RS4 too obviously) guy... we also can't forget about the A3... we're talking 4 door golf with teh power and luxury of an audi. Car and driver: "Does the A3 our GTi the GTi?" yes... yes it does. 200hp 2.0T FSI with a 6speed... and the size of a Golf. Any questions?
the potential for these cars is incredbile. just one example (and there will be much more to come) is the power of the chip on these cars. First chip released for the B7 puts down 250hp and 263 lb/tq from the 2.0T. with this being the first chip on the market... and more to come... schweet...

im a slight audi fan. the s4's are quick, the price is resonable and they look very nice. 1.8t can be made fast too while stuff looking nice. they are not near to bmw's status but never-the-less are nice cars.

I'm from Audiforums and just wanted to say I have a lot of respect for the BMW guys. I would like to eventually own one, but am stuck on the Audi brand at this moment.

Komodo what info did you want about the B7?

Honestly I just know absolutely nothing about it. I was curious how it performs in comparison to the E46 M3.

Also I have a question that's simple, but I just haven't looked it up. How do you tell the difference in A4's and S4's when you see them driving down the road, without seeing the badge. With the M3 and 3-series for example they have rounded mirrors and such. Any similar feature between the A4's and S4's?

my dad sports an Audi, for 1 main reason..Pricing.

When my dad went car searching after selling his E30, he could have gotten a E46 325i wagon..stock it went about 30k$ which he thought was rediculous(as do I), then he walked over to Audi and Got an A4 1.8T with Quattro Avant, and got the sports package on it(which is actually REALLY good) and he got a way bomb interior,a nd all the goodies for only 31k$ which is AWESOME.

For the Price, Audi is definitely awesome. But my soul goes to BMW as much as i do like the styling of the new A4's over the E90's...(i like the last gen of Audi's that were 1.8t, i dont like the new styling of the 2.0t's)

Anyone agree with me?

I have to agree with that thinking. My priority is motivated by my love of rear wheel drive and a climate that never causes slippery roads

Here's how you can tell which A4 you are looking at:

B5 A4 1996-2001

B5 A4 S4 2001-2002
Notice the front bumper is larger and has a double grill look. It also has sideskirts that hang lower.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________

B6 A4 2002-2005
(Notice the metal trim in the lower bumper)

The B6 also had new unique taillights:

B6 S4
Notice the door flares and aluminum mirrors (not always though). The Avus 6 spoke wheels are a dead give away on both the B5 and B6 S4.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________

B7 A4 2005.5- Current

Notice the large front grill

The taillights are also more subdued now:

B7 S4 2005.5 - Current
The B7 S4 also has door flares, aluminum mirrors and the front bumper has a small lip. The trunk lid also has a more aggressive pronounced lip to it. Also S4 badges.

Whew, think that's about it!

Eh...

I just don't like what they did with the remodel. I liked the old ones, I used to have a 99 but it was a damn lemon so I upgraded to the bimmer

my friedn megan owns an audi tt, now it is ugly as hell but it is so much fun to drive becuz it's got a 225 hp turbo engine in it. I wouldn't take and audi over a BMW, but they are fun to drive (not saying that BMW isn't, I have an auto and she has a stick)
