The Jeep Wave

I was just remembering back when I owned a '94 Wrangler . . I learned quickly that all Wrangler drivers wave to each other, no matter where you go, without fail. Those of you who've ridden in one know what I'm talking about.

Why can't Bimmer drivers develop some sort of camaraderie like that? What would be our sign to each other?

How interesting. My mom says that in a town in CT all BMW owners used to flash their headlights in straight on passes

Yea, I see that too. Older business folks can be pretty snobby.

i hate when people dont respect their bmw's! as most know i work at a country inn, where fine cars such as bmw's arrive. I always try to start convos with the owners on how great they are, and how they really are the ultimate driving machines. 1/4 know what im talking about. i get about 4 bmws showing up a day. as for those other 3/4's....idiots

It depends whose driving the car.. if its a guy and hes not 50+ they ussually will wave, unless they are fags... if its a woman she wont wave... its gotten to the point where when i see an e46 325i i just assume its a 40 year old woman.. fecking auto 325's.

Anything other than a 3 series and i dont even bother.. e39's no way, 7's no way, some e34's, whenever i see an e30 (which is rarely) they ussually will.. Generally e36's around here wont, unless its an M or a modded 6 cylinder. 318 = the teenage club mobile.

Yup.. Old people never wave.. Usually its the younger ones who wave, or Ive even been stopped at the gas station and talked to a few guys..

About the wrangler thing though, its insane.. They ALL wave, and there is no chance of it NOT happening.

I had a guy in a CJ-7 wave to me across a four lane highway, I didn't figure he'd spot me.

Maybe I'll just do a quick nose pick for other bimmers. If they laugh instead of looking back at me strangely, I'll know it's one of you guys

All of the VW bug drivers used to wave to each other too.

If you go back to where I was raised in Illinois, all of the old timers still wave when they meet another car. Just a lift your hand up off the wheel thing.

When I am driving the 840, I have people talk to me from the curbs at traffic lights and in parking lots. Cars weave thru traffic to catch up and see what I am driving too.

If I see someone wave I may or may not be able to return the gesture but if you pulled up along side when I have the windows down I would probably participate in a bit of conversation about the car. Old Fartism at its best?or worst?

Now on the other hand when I am driving the Cobra everyone ignores me.

I wave to bmw owners all the time, if they don't wave back I don't really care. Just shows me they don't understand their car and that I am actually waving to the car, not the person.

the wrangler people always wave because they are either a) young and wave just as young bimmer drivers do b) never grew up so (a) still applies c) still drive the same jeep they had when their parents bought it for them and are in the habit d) unsuccessful and glad to be recognized (for d i'm tlaking about those people in the crappy old unmodded jeeps that are about to fall apart)

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.
