Car rental/test drive?

Any experience worth mentioning? In the last months I drove a: Chevy Cobalt, b: Kia Rio and c: Chevy Aveo. The word? a: kinda quick, no road feel at all, lightest steering on Earth. b: slow, but seems like decent quality. c: slow but okay. Aveo 5 speed, longest shift throws I have ever seen

Chevy Malibus are actually the best overall if you include mileage. Cobalts we ahvn't gotten for a while they are ok.. Mercury Milans are surprisingly decent cars. They have only had 4 cyl. when we have gotten them but they are somewhat quick and handle nicely. They are the most comfortable out of all of them. Toyota corrolas SUCK. They are uncomfortable to drive and really awkward imo. I think thats all we have been getting lately. My mom rents a car instead of owning and we get a new one every week or two.

The last test drive I took was with my mom. She wanted to see what all the hype was about the new 350Z.

This isn't a lie.

I walked up to the first bright orange Z I see. A salesman comes out. He greets me, asks me what I'm looking for.
I say, "How fast do you think that one will go?"
He says, "How fast do you wanna go?"
"120ish."
"You got a driver's license? Cause that thing tops out at 155."
My mom and I hop in the car, I'm in the driver's seat. It's got a quick clutch grab and a short throw shifter. I "accidentally" burnout in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear before I manage to get it to stop squealing. My mom's freaking out. But seriously, the grab was within an inch. That's ridiculous. My mom drove it back after a highway drive... she drove it like a woman. Boo.

My review? Fast a hell. Track ready suspension. Not a daily driver.

Well, it said "/test drive," maybe that was a test drive, not a rental?

bah... i love 350Z's... except i think they have big bulbus arses that need some lipo.... just my personal opinion though. can't decide between that and a used E46 M3 though. I have a 30k signing bonus coming, and i don't know what to use it on. :grin

Chris, IMO, the Z is absolutely not a daily. Not only is it to track oriented, you can't see out of the damn thing. Also, little headroom. E46 M3, definitely a daily.

I like a hard car for daily usage so I dont think the z is really that bad but I haven't driven one so maybe I'm full of shit.

I test drove a mazdaspeed3 recently and liked it so much I got one! But it does need some stiffer suspension and something to make the great brakes feel a little more firm and a short shifter and some better tires/rims. Good thing I leased it or I wouldn't be able to spend money on the e30, although I dont think the mazdaspeed go fast parts void warranties

from rentals i have gotten a:

toyota camry: god awful slow, rolls like a pregnant yak, and a ride that made me want to take a nap.
nissan altima: pretty quick at higher engine speeds, decent everyday suspension, just dont like the look.
pontiac grand prix: american crap. and wth were the headrests?

+1. heck yes. but i would go for an E46 M3 or E39 M5 over the Z. sports cars dont fit my style. sports sedans/coupes are a diff story.

2007 - Chevy Suburban LTZ

surprisingly smooth and easy to drive. far more nimble and far more powerful then my old '97 Tahoe (coupe) LT that had a 350ci motor and 3.73 gears.

not horrible on gas, actually better over all compared to my F350 Diesel.

the stereo was pretty damned good, the interior was comfortable though I wished the rear had more room. a 20 gallon air compressor quickly filled it up leaving no room for anything else.

overall, the monochromatic black exterior was very attractive and I wouldn't mind owning one.
