I know I'm gonna get flamed for asking this, but does anyone know anything about their reliability? Anyone know someone who owns one? No kill stories please, I know they're not the quickest things on the planet. It's one of the few cars I'm considering to replace my 325. Versus a decent e39, they're gonna cost me about the same. But I was thinking a new car with no mileage might be a wiser choice, although e39's are pretty reliable . . . discuss.
My friend has a tC and she really likes it. This is a girl that knows plenty about cars. Not only does she like it, but her fiance is always wanting to drive it. She's had it for a year and has had no problems with it.
In a sense, this is Toyota's new Celica, if you think about it.
From what I hear, it has plenty of pull for what you would expect.
Definitely worth looking into, especially because you could get one new and under warranty.
^^^Because the 5 is what I always wanted. IMO it's still the best looking BMW ever made . . next to an e24 of course And I may still get an e92 someday.
Re: the tC: Daniel, you hit the nail on the head- Brand new, and a warranty. I think it's not so bad at 160hp. And it has a wide stance so I figure it must handle pretty well. The new ones have dual moonroofs, front and rear. I'll have to drive one tho . .

I have only heard good things about the tC, some of my car friends really like it and have only good things to say. I agree it should be pretty reliable and well made since its part of Toyota. How do you feel about the mazda 3?

I haven't heard anything bad about them. Scion, as mentioned, is a Toyota product. Have you looked at Mazda, as well? They aren't bad and have a good price point.

5-series = Sex....that said TC's are pretty cool. My grandma as an "Oh What A Feeling" van it has been really good, she has had it for as long as I can remember. If I to choose between the Mazda 3 and a TC I would go with the 3...because the hatchback.
I like the Tc because by what I've heard it's a really good package and handles really well. I had a friend in El Paso that got his blown with the TRD SC kit and he loves it.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll take a test drive when I get the time. Which doesn't mean I'm sold. I'm still in mourning over my e36. I didn't want to part with it, and I'd love to stay with the marque, but I came to the decision that I needed to be smart about all this. If I can find a nice e39 in good condition, in the colors that I want, then I may go that way. Anyway, I had considered a Mazda 3 some years ago, but I really am not crazy about it anymore. Kasei- the tC is a hatchback.
