Trade for a 928 Porsche
I have been asked to swap a 1992 engine out of a Linkoln town car into a 1953 Mercury, fuel injection and all components to run and start. I believe it will take me 50 to 60 hours to complete with hiding the harnesses an making it look clean. In trade the guy wants to sign over a 1982 Porsche 928. I have been researching parts to get an idea of cost. I will have to replace the front 2 seat upholstry and the front windshield and a lot of tlc in changing fluides and dry rotted hoses, but the Porsche does start and drives. It has low compression on #1 right bank possible a valve. The body is clean with no dents. It is a five speed and possibly a 40th aniversery Porsche based on the paint and interior color, but I need to double check. I have never dealt with Porsche and I have not to road tested this land shark, but I think it will be fun to drive.
What do you think?
my bro had a 1985 with a 1986 s4 engine, sickest car EVER, seriously you will love it, just dont do the mistake he did of making it his daily driver(even though out of all porsches, that is the daily driver one)

It seems to have an ingnition problem and will not run although it seems a simple fix it is just a little complex to find when an electrical schematic can't be found for less than 200.00. I see what you mean about cost of parts. This might be a part out car. If I can't afford to fix it right.

I think that there may be a problem with the CDI control box or distributor. I heard that with the key on that the box should be putting out a high frequency hum due to the high voltage but I did not hear anything. I guess its time to pull it off and break out the occiliscope and test component to component. The price of parts are well worth some relaxing time trouble shooting.
Thats a great site, thanks for the link.
