Your Ride: Dont have a car yet
Which car should I get as my first
I am probably going to get a car in August. Which car should I get as my first? I like the VDub GTI but I only have enough to lease it or I can finance an E-46 or E-36. Which Do you like
I think your wisest choice out of the 3 would be the e46. Newer car, less mileage, good candidate for financing. Nothing against V-Dubs, but I don't think leasing is a good choice if you're gonna want to do mods and other things to the car; you'd have to return it the way they gave it to you or pay out your ass. And financing an e36 would be foolish at this point, since they're at least 8yrs old now.
yea for an e36, if you finance it, by the time you are done the car would be ancient, usually if you finance you would atleast leave the option of trading in after you are finished, if you are financing an e36 the only car i would finance would be a 99 m3

I'd also recommend that you buy something older, but pay cash for it. Keep i mind that insurance will be far more expensive if you're leasing or financing. Be patient man. Save up until you can pay cash. If you need a car desperately, then buy a $2k Civic or Accord, which you will very likely be able to sell again for $2k six or nine months down the road, once you have saved up the money you need for the car you really want.
I personally wouldn't buy anything nice for you first car. Buy something that you can wreck, eat food in and drive your buddies around in. Buy a BMW once you learn responsibility, which is certainly not now when you are buying your first car.
I had a 92 Saturn for my first. Granted, it sucked, but I wrecked the hell out of that thing. And when I finally totaled it, I grew up and bought a BMW. Realistically, a 16 year old should not be driving an E46. I'm not saying this because I want an E46 for myself, I'm saying it for the safety of you and others around you. And most certainly do not buy an M3 until you drive something shitty, it makes the experience all the better.
