the new infinity M - United Bimmer Community

ok, i just saw the commercial for the new infinity M. Is it just me, or did they just design the whole freakin car from reading a BMW M brochure?

Actually, the Infiniti M is not a new car to infinti. Back in 1990 they had the m35, but it was replaced in 1993 by the j30. In 2003 they had an m45 but it was not popular at all, becuase people werent thrilled with the looks, it did have an impressive engine though 340hp and 333tq with a 4.5l v8. They are now re releasing the m45 with a whole new redesign and a 335hp engine with 340tq. They are also releasing a more tame m35 which has 280hp and 270tq 6cylinder engine.

This car is not supposed to be a copy of the bmw m series. It has been around for a while and, the evolution of this car shares no ties with the m series at all. The new m45 and m35 are based off of the Nissan Fuga.

There is no reason to get upset or mad at infiniti for this choice in name of their car.

im not upset.. but i just noticed some other things besides the M name such as its adaptive headlight system.. and i dunno.. just made me think of bmw

haha i was mostly kidding, be lately you have to admit bmw's name has been put places for others advertising, mostly degrading bmw.

When one company comes out with excellent features on their cars (like the adaptive headlights mentioned previously) it should not be suprising for other companies to take their ideas. They still have to go through the design process themselves, so they are not identical, just have the same basic feature.

And since BMW is quite often coming out with such new awesome features its almost given that they will be a very highly copied company. By the time other companies see BMW's ideas and begin to engineer their own products with those ideas, BMW has already begun putting their effort into new innovative designs.

Therefore, BMW = ultimate driving machine for a reason
