Suspension noises
Here's a shot in the dark . . I also own a '93 Mazda MPV, and the front end makes a lot of dull clunking rattling noises over bumps. Can anyone tell me what needs replacement? I took a quick look underneath, but didn't see much out of the ordinary . . ball joints looked okay I think, some worn sway bar bushings, but beyond that I didn't go much further. The shocks and struts fairly new. I've heard this noise before on other cars, but never knew what causes it. Any ideas?

Check out the swaybar endlinks (do MPVs have swaybars)? This is a common problem on e36s at least.

My dad had the same problem on his Dodge/Plymouth Minivan/Caravan. One bump and theres this deep jiggling sound from the front end. We never found out what the hell it iwas.

Well, I broke down today and bought a Haynes manual for the van. Looks like I gotta replace the control arm and another piece called a compression rod. If you put those 2 pieces together, you'd end up with something similar to an E36 control arm, only with more nuts and bolts I guess simplicity wasn't a compelling factor in Mazda's design
