2500rpm idle

from what iv read this is most likely caused by throttle position sensor
is there anything else i should check before buying one?

What I did with my issue was also check my ecu. I borrowed one from a friend of mine with the same ecu type#. I found out that my ecu went bad also. You should be getting a code on your check light. That's how I found out my TPS was bad after I looked up the code number on the bentley's manual.

Buy a Bentley's manual. It has tons of info on how to also trouble shoot things like that. On mine, the rpm only shot up if I turned on the AC or if I was running it hard (you get that tendency on European highways ). you can also look on Pelican parts and do a search on their forums. I went there when my problems arose, which was also recommended by the guys here on UB.c

yeah i do need to get a manual
most of my problems are usually something that isn't in the manual though or just something easy I missed the first time
at least that is my experience with my VW that I have a Bentley for
