Hi all:

Question to fellow 5.0'ers. What rpm is everyone shifting @, normal driving conditions.

With an m5 2k I find is just putting along. In my e21 i have to put it upto 3 to 3.5k just to get anywhere, and 4k if i want to keep up with traffic froma light.

95 325is, i usually shift at about 2k, unless accelerating on an on-ramp to a highway, in which probably 2.5 and maybe 4th gear at 3K

Its all a matter of what you like. In my 318 its usually 3.5k-4k.

Thanks for all the replies. Seems like each person has their own preference. I personally shift @ 4 and maybe 3.5 in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Usually in city conditions @2500-3000rpm in e36 sedan. Also, depends where the consumption needle is. If its below 15mpg i usually upshift.

i just want to introduce my self to you all and let you know my baby is 97 3128i will show pic's my next post. one problem i've is my radio, b'4 i start the car sometimes red light flashes in front of radio and when i turn it on it shows code, but if the red light don't flash it will take very long time to show code. and again when i put the code radio will work for a while and it go off by it self and won't turn on again for a very long time when i press the power. i mean once it shows code and i put it will work but not for along. i've check back of the radio all wires are good. the is 10 am fuse at the back do think changing it will help?
