M3General discussion and technical help all year M3 cars.
So I'm on my Ubuntu Powerbook laptop in Rob's garage right now with wireless. We're doing a full brake job on my car with Axxis Ultimates and Brembo OEM rotors. We just had to go out and borrow a drill, and buy some drill bits to get out a bolt we broke in the caliper, heh.
Last time I had Hawk HPS pads, and while they stopped on a dime, they gave off a lot of dust and squeeked horribly. I'll write up a quick comparison after a few days with them.
Yeah, kinda a pointless post. Sorry, back to work (read: watching Rob ).

Why not get the new M3, 400 ponies. Sick. I am installing some M5 calipers and rotors, SS lines and new pads, axxis ultimate on my car. The rotors are at least 20 mm bigger. I just finished painting the calipers today.
good luck with brakes. Sucks you have to drill it out.
yea tell us how they compare, i remember bitcore had hawks, then he bought the axxis ones which were absolutely horrible for him, and evne though when i tried them they were excellent(i think he may have gotten a defect or he installed them wrong)

Im doing well, yea its too bad you haven't been around more but your busy. I have hawk hp pluses on my car right now and they are very dirty and make noise like its thier job but they stop the car pretty well. I am also intersted in the difference, I am thinking of changing pads before winter fully sets in and keeping the Hawks for the track.
I've been driving around for about a day with them now and I can say they're WAY louder than the Hawk HPS pads. I could be going 5 MPH to a stop at a red light, and they SCREETCH. That is going to bother me I have a feeling.
However the stopping power is incredible. They can go from 80 to 0 in a few seconds.
thats funny, when i tried them they were really really quiet.. i guess i was just pretty damn lucky!! did you try the anti squeal stuff? i mean im sure you did b/c rob seems like he does a good job

Rob knows what he's doing, but we didn't put any anti-squeal stuff on it.

That's why they're squeaking - The anti squeal "stuff" is a membrane/gasket type stuff that prevents the harmonics from transfering from pads to caliper - without it you're just asking for problems.
