325xi front wheel bearing replacement
BMW dealer wants $750.00 to replace my front wheel bearing. I want to do it . Any information on this procedure would be helpful. I have the new bearing, nut and circlip from BMW. How about a dust cap? Thanks! lynn

I asked him that. Then I went and bought the parts from them and took my car. He came down $50.00 but I still wouldn't pay that. Do you have any experience with this repair?

$750 for just one wheel bearing, thats way too much, the figure should be around 275 from a stealer, with a decent mechanic you can probably get it done for <200
Your Ride: 92 525, 88 325 hardtop'ed vert and 83 320iS
Your be totally lost if you dont have directions or somewhone who has done it before. The job is actually funny to do with out using air tools. Your also need a new 36mm nut that goes onto the front axle, you have to break the old one to get it off. Your need an air hammer to get the axle out, take off the lower control arm from the hub assembly. Your also need the correct tool to press the old bearing out and the new one in. Which usually only dealers have, but it can be done with a press but u have 2 take the whole hub assembly off of the strut. Its not something that a back yard mechanic should try doing with a 100 piece of husky tools, no offence towards you, just a genealization.
