Pretty sure your seller is referring to the engine block itself, and the fact that he specifies 'S50' may be significant. From what I've read, the European M3's had the S50 engine, and US versions used the M50, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I'll bet the repair job isn't gonna be easy or cheap.

You are wrong.

95 = s50b30

96-99 = s52b32

The s50b32 is the euro engine that makes 310 HP.

Your talking about the car for sale on bf.c right? Looks like an alright deal, the motor either needs to be rebuilt or be replaced all together.

Must be the one. A poster said the seller probably meant hydro-lock, more on this:

Hydrostatic lock, hydraulic lock, hydro-lock or hydrolock occurs when liquids enter an engine cylinder. This can occur from a coolant, oil or fuel leak, but the chief cause is drawing water into the engine through the air induction system (air filter, intake manifold). Internal combustion engines must employ a compression stroke to compress the charge. Liquids are incompressible; the presence of a liquid in the engine cylinder during the compression stroke generates destructively high cylinder pressures.

Abnormally high cylinder pressures can bend and break pistons, piston pins, connecting rods, crankshafts and ruin bearings and can crack or break cylinder heads and engine blocks. Small amounts of liquids may pass through an engine cycle without causing damage. Hydro-lock may occur while the engine is running, the work of the compression stroke being supplied by engine's rotational inertia. Or a liquid may leak into the cylinder while the engine is being stored; the work of the compression stroke will be supplied by the starter motor.

ya i remember this was a huge deal when i was 4 wheeling in my old truck. they always said if you got stuck with the truck in the water either don't shut it off or turn it off and then don't restart it (tow it out) until you can break down the whole engine and then put it back together ensuring no water and with new gaskets and shit.

Eather your need all new seals and clean out the entire engine which in the long run might cost as much as a new engine. Expect to pay around 5 grand eather way you look at it.

Also Dudesky the M50 was in every E36 325 92'-95' and every E34 525 from 91'-95'
