Good deal?

Im still shopping around for m3's. I found a great deal on a four door '97 m3 but it sold just a couple days before i went to buy it. I'm checking out this '95 m3, trying to decide what its worth. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true
What do you guys think? any suggestions as to what to look for?

$8000... If there is nothing wrong with the car, then I would say $8000 is an awesome deal. Depends on where you live; where I live, M3's are expensive as hell, even for ones with high mileage like this one. Ask the guy about maintenance, see if he has any paperwork backing maintenance claims. If there are none, I heavily suggest getting it checked out first, because the $8000 price tag may be for a reason...

$8000 is about right for that car, it isn't low at all, it may even be a bit high, even if the car is in good condition.

peter- borrow a compression tester from Brad, and we can test the compression of the cylinders when we go down there, that will tell you if the head gasket is good and stuff. we should also check the rear shock towers for stress.

the mileage is kinda high, i think thats why the price is relatively cheap

145,000 isn't that high, my '95 325 has 207,000 miles, my old '92 325 had 240,000 when it got totalled, and was still running strong...

of course, not high for the car, but kinda high to buy the car at 145k, my car has 138 now, but i don't think i could sell it for very much just because of that, although it runs like a champ

the car was a piece of junk. the front left wheel was cambered way in from hitting a ditch, the passenger window didnt work there was a dent and rust on the hood and rust all around the window trim, scratches all over the car. the guy said he got offended when someone else offered him $6000 for it. I might have paid $5500 max. so im still looking...
