Looking for M3 what year?
well I'm in the market for new(er) car for my wife and my ceiling is $11k. Criteria is 4 door, 5spd, OBDII
I'm seeing a lot of 97, 98, and some 99's that fit. Some are obvious no-no's that look like daddy hand-me-downs that jr. went mod-crazy with. Some are very nice. I found one that was perfect but she wouldn't budge even $1000
question is what are the common issues I should be looking for before I go for the 1997 that is $8000 or best offer? Why is it so cheap?
thanks again in advance
Tom
PS. I did a search, but at the top of every page, the website is telling me to make a post, so here it is.

i honestly dont know any problems off the top of my head. I would say you should have the car checked by a good BMW shop before purchase. Some things to ask are bushing replacement, shocks, springs, coolant system, including water pump, thermostat, radiator, hoses.
Hows the engine sound? ticking or not.
exhaust, check if its rusted or in good condition.
Hows the shifter feel.
seat wear?
