A 4 door M3 is a nice little thing to add to the positives of getting a M3 if you've got a wife who thinks it stupid for you to get a couple when you got a kid. I agree though, for me a 4 door M should be a M5....because, well because it is, or has been in the past, the sexiest mofo with 4 doors on the road. Even with it's flaws the current M5 is better then a new 4 door M3 if your talking about sedans...I mean come on.
4 door M3's ftw. i think its a great idea. having 4 doors is more practical, which is what BMW really is...practical. outside of maintenance past 75 thousand miles if you have the money buying a bmw makes sence. It looks great, handles great, seats 4 comfortably(4 door..and even 2 door..but more so four door), has all the extras you dont get with other manufactures, and well the driving experience.
I think the 2 extra doors just add to the car. Anyway..if you dont want a 4 door, just buy a coupe.

I hope you dont mean that bmw's have only been about practicality. sure they are practical machines but that is really not the focus of bmw's design. If you want a fast car, but want four doors, buy an m5. If you cant afford the gas in an m5 or maintenance, then you dont need to be buying an M at all. Get a 525.
im on the fence about this issue. before i felt strongly that the M3 should stay a coupe, but now im not so sure. BMW invented the sport sedan niche market, and an M3 sedan would pretty much be the epitome of said market.
for me the problem was that the E36 M3/4 only had 240hp stock compared to euro versions of the same car, and some came with slush boxes. that just ruins it.
my problem with the current E90 M3 is that. . . the E90 is fugly. . . IMHO of course.

celsdogg some e36 m3 coupes came with slushboxes also so that isn't really an arguing statement between a 4 door and a coupe. It might have been only 95 coupes, but its still a slushbox.

thats not quite what i meant. i mean that no M3 should have a slushy.
