I got in my 1997 BMW 318i tonight, turned the headlights switch over and my low beams wouldn't come on. I can flick on the high-beams, but the low-beams will not come on. If I pull the lever back to leave the high-beams on, they don't come on. I can only push the lever forward to flick them on. My right side fog light works, but not the left. I don't know that it's related, as I never use my fog lights so I don't know if it was working before or not.

On a possibly unrelated note, my brake lights stopped working a few days ago as well. I replaced the fuse but they still don't work. I'm guessing it's a wiring issue, but I'm not sure.

Any help here?

That looks like a wiring issue. Has the brake light switch been checked?

Could be a defective switch at the dashboard. If all your fuses are okay, I would check that, since everything pretty much runs through that switch.

Check the wiring loom that goes to the trunk itself. Often times those will break or get frayed and will cause issues with lights, brakes, etc..
