3rd break light upgrade

just curious if any one has changed/upgraded or modified the 3rd brake light on a E30, on my 88 although it does its job, i wondered if i can put a more sexy/modern looking, that boxy shape is so retarded. :doh

should be as easy as finding something that will fit and then splicing in the two wires. nothing really complicated. ive always want to fit in the e30 m3 3rd brake which actually is attached at the top of the rear window, not the bottom.

i kinda like it at the top too, the way E46s are. altho, boxy goes with the E30.

This is what I had in mind when I read the original post.

But this would be a lot of rewiring :doh

But it would be mAd tYte yo!

Plus, I can't imagine it being too bad. I have to start by saying that I haven't ever worked on an E30, but I believe it would be a matter of routing teh wires through the C pillar up under the headliner and -- presto! If this wiring is done, maybe even the rope 3rd light from an E36 compact would be cool to use :dunno

witeshark 10-04-2007 11:31 PM

Yeah, very cool :shades

anyone has pics of 3rd brake lights on an e30 at all? Cause here in Germany we never had them afaik, they first came with the e36

straight6pwr 10-06-2007 08:34 AM

i tinted my back window pretty soon after i started driving the car so no one sees it anymore anyhow. thats really why i never put the m3 one in. it shows up in no pictures.
