Ala. commission asked to explain gifts opinion
A state senator has asked the Alabama Ethics Commission to reconsider its recent opinion concerning whether teachers can receive gifts at Christmas time from their students.The commission said under Alabama's new ethics law, teachers may receive items of nominal value, such as homemade cookies, coffee mugs and fruit baskets.
