School tax election set for April 30
Jefferson Parish voters will decide April 30 whether to renew a half-cent sales tax for public schools.The Times Picayune reports that the tax expires in 2012. The school board set the election date this past week.The half-cent tax generates about $37 million a year, almost 10 percent of the school system's $400 million operating budget.Officials More... |
