Speeding Ticket
So as the title says today I got a speeding ticket on my way home from work. I always go through downtown detroit becasue its way faster then staying on the freeway. So I am going down a street that parallels a busy street that I have never once in my whole life seen a police officer on. In anycase there was one there today on a motorcycle so i didnt see him till the last minute. So i pull over and he comes up tells me 53 in a 30 and asks for the drivers license and insurance and registration. I hand them to him and he walks back to his bike. Hes writing it up then comes back and tells me he took 6 mph off the ticket to put me at 50mph, and I'm thinking wait didn't he tell me 53? He also tells me that my license plate holder is illegal and I need to take it off the car. Its been on the damn thing for 16 years and I have never heard this before in my life. So i look at the ticket and I can not read anything on it. I can not read my name the make of the car anything becasue he wasn't pressing down hard enough or something, I can't read remakrs or even the officer's name. I have tried to get a picture of the ticket to show its wonderfulness below. I plan on making a court date as far in the future as I can and since its detroit there is a very good chance the cop won't show. My other question is since I can't read anything is that something I can use as grounds for dismisal on the ticket, and if not should I call and find out what the ticket was for and what fines/points I will be assesed, if you guys have any tips let them rip.
The picture shows what little scribbles made it through but I can't read anything.

I hear ya on getting caught at the last moment.
I got mine back on Easter of all days. 52 in a 40.
$100 speeding fine.
I had 3 options.
1) Diversion (cost was $20 application fee, $50 Court fee, $50 for something else, and 1/2 the ticket. It all adds up to $200/$210 for 12 over here in Kansas. (If I'm clean...not getting pulled over for 6 months, then it dissapears as if I didn't do it at all.) So yeah, 6 months after the court date...which is May 30th. And then I'm good to go.
2) Or have the ticket Amended (cost was flat fee of $170). That requires talking to a prosecuting attorney (which should be on a floor in City Hall). They have the ticket reduced to a moving violation, which goes on your record, but not to the insurance company. Or so I'm told.
3) Pay the ticktet ($100) and it be sent to my insurance company, and have them raise the rates. I think not.
Hang in there, you'll be ok.
Did you tell your parents, or are they not a factor in this situation?

They aren't really a factor, but I would like to avoid the insurance, probably a good thing I just paid up for the next 6 mos. For your 1st option how did you find out that was an option, i have never had to deal with tickets so I would like to be educated before I make desisions. I'm looking for a plan incase the cop does show up to the court date which i can't make for at least 2 weeks and then i'm thinking about making it as late as I can to try and hope he does not show. Does my ticket having nothing legible on it help my case any or not?

Thought I would update you guys on this, I had my court date yesterday and thankfully the officer did not show so I saved myself some cash, ticket total was $10 for parking at court as opposed to $260ish and 4 points on my license.
The cop who didn't show probably had 35 people (of 50 or so) there with tickets from him so there were a lot of happy people.
