IS300 vs Lil ol me?

Crusing on the 210 at 3am, I was actually getting kinda sleepy when I saw bright xenons coming up behind me on the carpool lane real fast. I was at about 80, so I decided to bump it up and see where it will lead. I've never pushed my 330, as I had just bought it a couple of months before this. The IS comes up next to me as I hit 90, and I guess he realized I wanted a piece of him and he gunned it at the same time i downshifted. We took it a couple of miles of road, I hit 115-120 or so, but he just kept right next to me. I eventually chickened and cruised back down to 85 or so, but it left me with a whole new respect for lexii. Hehe. My question is...what is the speed limiter on 2003 series 330ci's? I thought it was a bit higher than 120, but at 120 it seemed like it stalled a little. Also, man, I think that IS could have taken me if I pushed it, could it have? Don't they have roughly the same hp's? He had 4 doors, I had 2, and most likely he had a passenger (carpool lane) and I was alone. Made me go hmmmmmm...

No offense but letting off is bitch material. Rev limiter will tell you when you can't go any faster!

I think your limiter is around 130mph, and I'm pretty sure you have a few more horse than the IS300, although she may be lighter than you. I think if you hung in there for a few more seconds . . .

Lots of stuff vary, he could be moded, am guessing you are stock?

And sometime 4dr cars are lighter than 2dr cars, since 2dr cars have VERY heavy doors to make up for the B pillars.

Humm, your governor must be around 138ish?

BTW, it's a bimmer. A true enthusiast knows that beemer is the BMW motorcycle. Back in the day, BMW got their start in motorcycles. BMW's main competion in motorcycle racing was the BSA's. As track slang devoloped, the BSAs were known as "beasers" and the BMWs were called "beemers". As BMW began producing automobiles, the cars were called "bimmers", so as not to confuse them with the motorcycles. As the cars were imported into the United States, some things were lost in translation and the bimmer was reduced to beemer or beamer. Which, in reality is a motorcycle. Not trying to be mean, but since it is your first bimmer, you should know. BTW, welcome to ub.c

ANYWAY: here's what I really wanted to post about:
Specs:

2003 BMW 330Ci
Weight: 3285 lbs
HP: 225 hp
Torque: 214 ft-lbs
0-60: 5.9 s

Lexus-poo:
Weight: 3255 lbs
HP: 215 hp
Torque: 218 ft-lbs
0-60: ? doesn't say

you could have beat him if you tried. it's too bad, it's always fun to humiliate the jap-cars.

nice write up amanda.

i always wondered how my 328is would do against a is300... now i know it would be really close. considering 330vs328 are practically equal in a rolling race. later

^I seem to remember BMW limiting the cars to about 130 and the m3 to 155.

Not all E46's are up there... mine is in the 130mph range.

A friend of mine has an IS300, and in my 328i, we are even performance wise, even though he has roughly 20 hp more. But, an IS can be greatly modded, so if you race one, it may surprise you.
