Almost became one with a Dodge Caravan
So, another Monday -- got let off work early as usual (for a Monday). I decided to go drive for a few minutes, on a empty (which turned out being not so empty), back/country road.
The basic layout of the road is half to a mile long straight, then a 90 degree turn (some banked, some not), and a few S-bends here and there. Makes for some great fun because you can hit high speeds on the straigths, and take some nice turns at the same time...
First few miles, I'm stuck behind a Ford Escort and a F150... Don't want to pass them and look like a ass because they are already going 30 over... So I wait, and they finally turn off. Few miles further is a nice right 85-90* turn... So far (after those 2 cars turned off), I didn't see one other. Good. I am steadily going about 85 (not really pushing yet - 2 lane road), as I approach this turn. The yellow, recommendation-sign reads 25 MPH. Keep in mind that this is also a blind turn, and you have no idea what is behind that giant land mass covering the view.
So, I step over into the left lane, brake... Don't know how much I slowed down, but I was still carrying enough speed to lose traction and do a semi-slide around it. Turn in, apex, BAM, perfect. As I exited on the left side (using the proper racing technique which could have killed me), I see a white Dodge Caravan minivan coming up, blazing the horn at me... At this point all thinking stops and I automatically swerve right (to avoid the van), and then back right to avoid the ditch on the other side. I missed the van by about a inch. My arms were still shaking on the next turn and I almost understeered off the road.

that's some freaky shit man, that's why i don't apex blind turns, i was apexing a turn on this back road and ironically a silver dodge caravan was coming right at me since i was in the other lane, it was an easy left, but i was looking ahead in that direction and got out of the way with plenty of roomj, and my buddy was like omfg omfg lol, i'm like dude chill

If you knew me, you would know how hard headed I am.
Lol, that sounds somewhat familiar. I had that same thing going on on a back road in Holland. I was behind a sporty peugeot and we both were already giving some gass to our cars for like the four minutes that i was chasing him, when we take a smooth 90 degree right corner wich comes with a nice view on the short stretch behind it.
Decided to pass him when he was exciting the turn. Went past him Gave full throttle to bank in safely in front of him cause the stretch after the turn is like 100m or something and then it goes to a nice 120-130 degrees turn left wich is blind. Then i was like when i was just past him. The cops were coming from the other direction out of the left turn. Lol. Had to throw it to the right and left in like a split second. They flashed the red and blue to warn me i guess cause i went slow in the left turn and came out it fast to get rid of them (the cops) in case they were following me.
The funny thing is the driver and passenger of the 206 needed to go to the same place that i was going to. At the parking lot they were congratulating me for almost crashing into the cops and them at the same time. They didn't looked that happy.
Sorry for hijacking yr thread. It's just that yr story helped to remember mine.
