Someone hit us on the highway today.

So it was raining, the roads were wet and we were tck behind 4 cars in front of us going 40 n a 55. Now the conditions were not that bad to be going that speed. My dad was driving i was the passenger. We were in the 05 chevy work truck we have. Luckly i told my parents to buy new tires cause they were bald...they came in handy twice in one day.
But anyways in front of us was a 80s prelude. We followed the guy from our turn 10 miles back. He had gone about 50 the entire way. We firgured he was an immigrant with no license....i live in the wine country there a bunch of un licensed illegal immigrants. So we are on a 2 lane highway going about 40mph. my dad decides to pass because hes sick of people driving like its snowing out. We start to pass, going about 55 when the prelude starts to merge into our lane nice and slowly. We are about 1/2 passed his car, and my dad starts hinking his horn and I look at the driver to see what the fuck he is doing.

The guy is not looking over his shoulder at all and obviously comes into our lane, hits our tire, when we almost loose control(this is where new tires helped out) and he then violently swerve back into the other lane where theres another car behind him that slams on his breaks. The prelude begin vering towards a rock wall on his side. He runs off the road and rides in a dich for about 100 feet then comes back onto the road.

Imagine that...he hit us while we were passing him cause he didnt check his blind spot. Scary shit. Of course when i saw the guy he could have been one of those "illegals"(once again not to be racist...but whaat else can i call him). Well we kept going then pulled off the road right ater he did about 1/4 mile in front of him. We bth surveyed our damage and went on. My dad was pissed at the guy and wanted to talk to him to tell him off...i said he better not. So the guy rove by us and that was it. Our rear fender has a small plastic mark on it, and his wheel well from what i saw was dented and black along with his bumper.

well thats it.

oh the second good thinga botu new tires was driving home there was a bunch of flooded spts where we prolyl woulda lost control without new tires.

That happened to me a while back on the NY State Thruway. Minivan full of kids, the driver changed lanes as I was passing him on the left at around 80mph . . not considered speeding there, since everyone normally does around 75. Thank goodness there was a left side shoulder and I was able to avoid them. Needless to say he felt really stupid after that, and stayed well behind the pack of cars we were traveling in. As long as I know that he realized his stupidity, that was enough for me. But things could have been worse with those kids in his vehicle.

Glad everything was ok, coulda been much worse. But a chevy work truck vs. prelude? You coulda easily spun him out or worse if it wasnt wet out. Always remeber: Right of wieght

i believe it was a safe assumption..i might be wrong. If i am my appologies.

as for the hit and run...we were thinking about it...but our insurance hates us already..so calling them again would be a bad idea.
