My 2 day driving experience:

Thursday morning on the way to school, I glance left and see a done up, golden car... upon closer inspection I realize that it's a Hyundai Elantra -- debadged, lowered, sitting on chrome wheels, fully body kit, exhaust... lots of stuff.

As my lane is slower, he goes on and cuts over to it about 500 ft down... and then makes a turn right to where I'm going. Cool, I think as I weave every possible way to get next to him. Next light, he's in the left lane, me in the right. We slowly move off the line and then hit it... he takes the jump (my bumper at his door), and we pretty much stay like that till 70 when a Buick pulls out into my lane and I'm forced to brake, switch to his lane, and then try to follow him... by this time he is gone as he didn't have to brake.

Same place, a couple of months earlier I got spanked by a GTi and a month before that by a 328i... didn't even try against the 328i to be honest... it's pointless.

Then yesterday, a Golf GL Mk2 tried to shake me off through the twisties, but couldn't. Props to him for driving like he did though. At the end, we caught up to some truck and just crawled the rest of the way.

I need the aftermarket alarm to be wired back up, was unplugged when I bought car in december. It's annoying having to use the key to open the door everytime. Good story torque, at least you don't make up stories!

Torque, Yo, you seem from the leading post to be a serious driver. In Miami, there are no roads for that though Oh well...

wow this post just reinforced what ive been thinking about all week.. i lost to a new matrix. yup. 1/4 mile off the line. i had him till i got into 3rd, then he just barely pulled away.. which is weird because i lost by the same distance to an 03 gti 1.8T. Anyhow, to make the story short, I want a faster car (looking to get a 95M3 or throw a 540/6sp into mine), but until then, I DO still have keys to a 145mph hot-looking bmw! :) from 15ft away at least

You can't street race a M20 E34 or a M42 E30. We both have learned the lessons of that. :)

Only in the twisties do I suprise people.

Torque 04-17-2005 10:52 PM

Shit, I expected to beat that Hyundai though. :D

I still got to go home in a BMW tho... and when I say 'BMW' people think 'cha-ching'... he can say 'Hyundai' and people think 'charity'. :D

No offense to any Hyundai owners.

He may have actually spent a little time on the motor, though. Considering every 'performance' part for an Elantra is six dollars on eBay, it's a lot easier for that crowd to make their cars faster than us. Of course, they need it...

But honestly if my car was a 5 speed and/or a M50B25 I would have ripped him a new one. I just hope I catch him once in the other 5er in my pic to show him what BMW is about. :throwrock
