Thumbs up Messing around with a 318 "///M"

Ok, so was coming back home from a friend's house (the one that gets me BMW parts at employee cost). So, I get to this light, and see a gorgeous M5 coming from the right and turn onto the street I was in. Light turns green and I try to get behind what I thought from a distance was that same M5, as I get closer I notice something weird about the "M" emblem and see that it's actually a 318 (the exahust) and I see the M5 turning left . But anyhow, the guy in the 318 had noticed my car and was flashing his brakes, in my head am thinking ( ) so, light turns green, the cars in front of him go and he floors it, trying to lose me, and right behind him the all time, we zig-zag our way past the next light.

At this point he does something like this out of his window and points to me to come right next to him. So, I get right next to him, and his buddy asks me "What you got under the hood" "My car's M52 powered with a few mods, you got a 318 right?" The driver answers "how did you know" "look at your exhaust". I guess that kinda pissed him off bcs I think he tried to floor it, but obviously couldn't lose me, I tap the gas a bit harder, and go

PS: I meant no disrespect towards any 318 owners by this thread, and if any 318 owners got offended by this thread, I apologize.

I agree. Unless it comes "M" from the factory, it's not an M car.

Way to educate the uninformed.

^^ Only time I agree to non original M cars putting the M badge is if they do a full M3 engine swap, then and only then they are allowed to wear the ///M other than that, it's not "ok" imo

Unless it has an M engine putting an M badge on it is kinda gay. Its like buying a pontiac an putting the Ferrari badging on it.

Am sure you haven't forgoten that custom E36 332?

Much faster than an M3, yet no ///M Badge. So unless if it says BMW M POWER underneath the hood, no ///M badge should be on the car!

I'd take a manual 318 before an automatic 328 :P

I have the M grille badge. There's a difference between the M badge and the M3 badge, but not like I care if you think it's rice.

There are 2 things on my car (apart from the 318is badge) that let's you know it's a 318. I have too much M42 pride to dump the 318is badge though.

ok, so you got the 318 badge in the rear but have the ///M grill badge, that's understandable, kinda like some peops carry the AC grill badge but don't have any AC parts...

what about m-technic cars? my buddy has an e36 318is that came from the factory with all M exterior parts. he still has the 318 badge but on the other side of the lid it has an M. I don't see any problem with that.

well, since he's got the Full M body kit I am assuming and still has his 318 badge, yeah I don't see any issues in that.
