Cool check it out!!! a true KILL

alright guys. so one of the guys i graduated w/ has had his car for a while now and we finally got around to racing after talking about it for 2 years strait. i had the video camera in the car for someone to tape, but i was too excited before i could get it out. anyway, out in the boonies of YAKIMA...3/4 straight road. we line up. there is a painted 1/4 mile ect. all this stuff. only one house on the road too. its good to be safe . so my friend has a 1967 pontiac le mans (350, headers, k&n filter, and electronic ignition) this thing has sooo much power. i forgot to add, it is a 4 speed so thats cool. so back to the story. we both go and we are dead even off the line....im assuming he is smoking his tires, and i cant even hear my exhaust because his car is so loud. 2nd gear i start to pull, and the same w/ 3rd. i cross the 1/4 at about 95mph and then shift into 4th....im not sure if hes letting off, but at the end of third, i was about a car length ahead. . it was a very good race. we went again from a rolling start; same result. so i think it comes down to my gearing for the higher speeds because he has to have 300+ hp. i hope you enjoyed this story. another one of my friends has a 1972 nova i have yet to race. him and i did a 1/4 separatly w/ a passanger timing, i ran a 15.07 and he got a 15.17. he just got a new carberator and intake manifold so i think im effed now. ill try to get some pics or a vid next time. later guys!!!

Haha, yeah. His car weighted a lot more, so it probably took that much HP to match your speed, then your higher gearing let you take him past the 1/4th.

Anyone ever watch Open Throttle I think it's called on the History Channel? Anyways, the times that some of those big old muscle cars run is shitty. Big old v8 block's laying down all sorts of power running NOS only running 15s and high 14s. Just shows how much weight can affect times when dragging. I bet some of those cars would be beasts on the highway, but from a stand still, very few of them are really fast.
