Im coming home from class a few minutes ago, and im coming up on my exit. in the center lane, i am passing a full size semi truck. as i start coming up on the tractor part of the truck, i see his right turn signal under the trailer start blinking. so i start speeding up to give him some room, and as i started doing that, i see his front end start coming into my freakin lane!
i had to swerve over the rumble strips, far into the shoulder.
my parents used to tell me how truck drivers were the kings of the road, and the most professional and courtesy drivers out there, but i swear, it seems more like they are on their learners permits.
this is only a kill story, because i almost got killed.
If I read this correctly, you tried to pass him on his right?
Dude, sorry but I can't agree- that just wasn't a wise decision on your part. No matter where you are or where a truck is, you never pass on their right side.

yeah, not a great idea to pass on the right. my dad has been a truck driver for about 10 or so years, i have been with him on a few trips across the country, and they will give you all the frekain time you need to get around them, but when your on the right, there are huge amounts of blind spots its not even funny. its really hard to see on that side. there have been a few times where he gets over and says "hope no ones back there" because he cant see.
heh yea no on the rgiht passing. I had the same happen to me, but i was passing on his left. luckily i had a great brakes and reaction time.
Its good you had the shoulder to pull off onto.

ok. let me say it again. i was exiting. also, he was getting over and slowing down because he came up on a slow car in the center lane. thus, to pass him, he started going on the right, when the left lane was clear.
i wasnt passing, i was exiting. and thank you all so much for so graciously reminding me that the left is the passing lane. now someone go remind that driver.
Oh, my bad then. So he tried to exit late and didn't see you there?
My VP at work got squished between a semi and the center median on the NJ Turnpike some years back in a Volkswagen Corrado. 2mos in the hospital and a year of physical therapy. He can't have kids now, but after the lawsuit, he was awarded 2.4 million. Now he drives an M3, a TT, and a Range Rover.
^^^^ Ha! Thats really sad yet kinda funny at the same time. On one hand you have the hospital recovery, on the other hand you got the M3, TT and Range Rover.
On the way to Michigan with my girlfriend I was passing a semi on the left, I always try to pass them as quickly as possible and stay out of their blind spots, but I came about 1/3 of the way before he started moving over. Thank you BMW Brakes.

same kind of deal happened to me the other day on my way back, i was in the left hand lane and the truck just started coming over, thank god i had some shoulder room and enough time to finish passing.
