New Member!!
Hi all, just joined this site today and can already see there is a very useful community of members belonging to this site. I haven't yet bought a BMW yet but am currently checking out all used 316 models for sale in my area (hoping to fulfill a teenage dream of becoming a BMW owner very soon.....I promise this is not a mid-life crisis).
One question I have for anyone out there is on how reliable the 316 models are, I am planning on buying a '02 or '03 edition and I have heard varying opinions (alot coming from non BMW owners)
Please dont advise me to buy any of the larger models, we get nailed big time on road tax here in Ireland for owning cars with engines of 2ltre or larger.
Look forward to hearing from you all, good luck to all!

Well most of us are in the US so we don't get the 316 or 318 after the e36, so Some of us can't be that helpful in that regard. Good luck with your hunt and I think you will enjoy the BMW, and Welcome to ub.c hope you stick around.

Id say go with some thing a little better either the M3 model or 325i- is pretty much any with the Inline 6 Engine And go Manual. You wont regret it!

Ireland, like many European nations taxes very high on engine displacement 2 litres and higher. Usually, the 1.6L size is the best average of tax vs. performance. But that can be a good thing: great fuel economy!
