BMW rescue successful!!

Hi,
Some of you might enjoy this story. It is how I found my current 1994-325i which is also my alias on this website. While visiting family in Albequerque New Mexico, my brother in law loaned me his (and his wife's) 1994-325i. My wife and I started cleaning it out, all of his tools for housebuilding from the backseat, gyproc dust everywhere, and carpets that looked like they had been used in a bar for 15years. The trunk had a bale of hay in it for their chickens. They have a giant SUV and a very nice work truck, but when asked why he used the BMW, he said it was good on gas and fun to drive. Fair enough.

We drove the car to Sedona Arizona and back, with me fixing the sunroof, windshield wipers, an oil change and sundry little things that had been let go. Their children must have liked kicking the headliner of the car - it had little black scuff marks everywhere. As a southern car, all of the rubber gaskets exposed to the sun were/are slightly baked, and brittle. I waxed the car. 36mpg us gallons, average mileage. And what a ride. only 93,000 miles, my wife liked it, The seats were the most comfortable I have ever sat in in a vehicle, ever, and this really was the scale-tipper for me. I wanted the car.

When we got it back to them, they were impressed. I told my brother in law that he needed to sell me the car. He muttered something to me I couldn't understand. Then his wife said they were looking for another car, something with a good AC in it and fuel efficient, as the SUV they had just sucked back the gas.

As we left, she said to her husband " Dan, we need to sell the car to David, he takes such good care of it !" (as if the car can tell the difference) I said what a great idea, and the money would be the down payment on your next car ! Well, a couple of months later, and a few telephone calls and we went down to pay for and collect the car. I handled the export from USA and import into Canada myself, not really a problem.

You never know what you will find around the next corner!! Man, is it ever a great car to drive!!

Cheers,

1994-325i
