Vrooooommm!!
Hi there...
some of you may have read my experience with my e36 and her defective driveshaft. now that i have repaired the problem its on to upgrading the brake systems. thinking of upgrading the rotors and changing the factory brake lines to ones made of steel... but so far be sending her up to have 'angel eyes' installed. this e36 is my first bmw. its a 320i (european specs) with a 6 cylinder engine. the local dealer tells me that there are only 7 of them in this country. i had owned a peugeot 405. was an excellent car but had traded her in to get the e36. had to replace some components but at the moment i am concentrating on the 'looks' of the car rather than its performance. thats not to say the car is lacking. so far have outsprinted most cars on the highway, but u feel like u r just cruising till u look at the speedo. Though i had bought the car from her previous owner, (which btw had parked her under the garage for two years), the car is in excellent condition. cant say more about an already well handling car and its comfort level is really superb. That's all for now. just wanted to share bout the car which has got me really keen with bmws. one extra note. i race remote controlled nitro powered cars when ever there is a major race. the next paint job on the car will look like the bmw formula 1 team on the 2006 season. fast toys for big boys...:wiggle |
Welcome! Glad to hear :shades

kool..... Were do u live for curiositys sake?

Brunei Darussalam. the agent here seems to get the latest models that are released from BMW. so far i've seen the 645ci M6 and the X5 4.8 liter version. there are for the 'priviledged few'. go figure. beemers are 50/50 in quantity to mercs here, but my car is a limited edition. Just got the collant changed and her fuel filter replaced. purrs like a kitten, roars like a lion on the highway...

haha, glad you enjoy the car, can you provide us with some pics of that engine? i have never actually seen pics of that engine
|
Welcome to the site, always good to see someone from another country :D
|
do you new zeaq? I have a gas powered rc truck, I was thinking about racing it for fun.
As far as brakes, would you ever do any track racing, auto-x'ing, etc? |
Welcome,
In regards to the brakes, the stock rotors are fine for driving on the street and many people think that the stock plain rotors are fine for the track. Stainless Steel brake lines will improve you pedal feel. The cheapest "upgrade" to the brakes is probably changing to a more performance oriented pad and maybe upgraded brake fluid. Serious upgrades will cost big bucks (Big Brake Kit) or even changing to a larger rotor and caliper that fit (some people do this and its cheaper) but make sure to do some research first, cause if you get the wrong stuff it won't work. |
Welcome to Ub! send some pics.

Welcome.
As far as brakes go. I just bought a set of Brembo replacement rotors and Pagid pads. I'll let you know how those perform together. Amanda |
I'm working on it as soon as i get a decent digital camera. Its pretty much stock cept for the Ac schnitzer parts in the cabin. I ran in to a dilemma coz i found 2 good deals on 'angel eyes' upgrades but i cant tell which kit to get since i've seen various other e36 but some are 'brighter' while some just glow blue. I'll be submitting the pics of my car asap. thanks

Dem brakes are the last upgrade after the 'angel eyes'. i haven't found any good brake rotors here cept for the OEM rotors but they cost a king's ransom to get a decent set. i was looking at Brembo GT but my stock rims wouldn't clear the rotors. I've flushed out the brake fluid but cant feel any major difference to the performance. the brakes are very tough...no squealing, no vibrations, the cars brakes in a straight line though. I remember my Peugeot would start behaving like a rodeo bull whenever i tried to brake on gravel roads.

I have a 1/8 R/C nitro car which i have taken to race overseas. I sold it coz there was no major race planned for that class for the entire year. I still have the engine, radio transmitter, tune up tools and various accessories for my next R/C car but so far haven't found a decent looking replica of an M3...I know HPI makes a good decent body but i don't know whether that model is still under production.
Btw, i never race my car on the streets. but sometimes some punk kid who just had his liscense in a) honda civic b)hyundai (!) c) toyota supra d) evo 6 & 7 e) subaru WRX f) mitsubishi FTO would just seem to be tempting me to outrun them. Y'know wat i mean? I dono why over here there seems to be an unwritten rule. "the smaller (read cheaper) car you own the louder must your car be and if you can afford the stadium audio system in it better still" I've never seen reckless driving from other bmw driver's. Not from my neighbourhood anyway. the merc's here are pretty decent. Some are AMG, BRABUS, CARLSSON modified so i know these guys are packing muscle. I know some of these drivers but we never see who have the biggest 'balls'...yet. There are no race tracks here. so i just cruise on the highway. And when no one is looking...take here up to 200... Sorry to say I don't know Zeaq. the funny thing is that when i recall reading his trip to Kuala lumpur there was a picture of optimus prime (limited edition). wat a coincidence since i saw a limited edition kit in a mall somewhere. At least i remembered watching transformers when i was a kid and throughly enjoyed that show. Zeaq, if your reading this. hope we meet up soon. |
Hello amanda,
Tell me how you would break in those pads and what was the diffrence between the stock pads and those which you got. Hope to hear from you. |
