From what I've gathered, it doesn't make too much difference to the car drivers, but it's mostly the BMW motorcycle folks that take offense when you refer to the car as a beemer

No no no.

It is spelled bimmer...which designates it as a vehicle. But pronounced beam-ER.

Nobody, and I know this for a fact....says bimmer....pronounced bim-ER...like rim (of a basketball hoop), but with a "b" (bim). And add the -er.

Anywho...yeah. Bimmer.

And in the movie cars....it is spelled beamer....but aren't they talking about cars? Stings like a bimmer? How does a BMW motorcycle sting? Wierd.
